Here is a nice little story from Pittsburgh Live about a local yoga class called "Yoda's Force," run by a yoga teacher Jody Lignelli, aimed at helping children keep up with the hectic modern day life. In one sense its a sad comment that even kids need stress relief in this day and age, but on the other hand its good to see that approaches like yoga are being offered to help kids have a foundation of balance and awareness that will help them shape a world that is not as imbalanced in the future.
And of course, kids would prefer to learn "tree pose" versus the fancy sanskrit names for the positions, but its never been the names that matter. Children are still going to want their video games, but a little discipline and balance can never hurt. Its a lot easier for a child to learn the poses then many adults who try to bend their back only to find it just doesn't bend so easily anymore!
